WHAT A TIME TO STILL BE ALIVE TEE

Although the "You're on mute" design was the first to appear in the Communitees store, it was actually the phrase "What a time to still be alive" that was knocking around in my head for weeks before deciding to design some tees, just for myself. Here it is, in all its OG glory.

The phrase came to me while reflecting on the crazy first few months of 2020. I felt like we'd only just finished sweeping up after the bushfire apocalypse and suddenly most of Australia was underwater with widespread flooding. Northern Italy was the first place outside China feeling the full force of an unvaccinated COVID-19 assault but it was already apparent that New York, Chicago and London were going to be in deep trouble. Trump, Johnson and our own ScoMo were clearly not up to the job of effective crisis management. And my marriage was rapidly falling apart.

So, the times felt just a little bit too interesting for my taste, but I was grateful to have survived this far, and determined to smile at the good things I saw all around me, as good people of all persuasions, perspectives and world views thought of others before themselves and stepped up to help the rest of the world get through this. Maybe I could make and sell some of my tee designs and donate all the proceeds to charity. And so, Communitees was born.
